SUMMARY OF PURPOSE

Reporting directly to the District Manager (DM), the General Manager leads the people, culture, operations and business performance of their restaurant. The General Manager builds and develops a high-performing team, delivers exceptional guest hospitality and ensures consistent execution of Tacodeli's food quality, food safety and operational standards.

We're looking for an experienced, organized and passionate leader who develops great people, takes ownership of results and shares our love of tacos. Our General Managers lead from the floor, understand their business and create a culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, hospitality and a whole lot of fun.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build & Develop Great Teams

• Recruit, interview, hire and retain talent that demonstrates the skills, behaviors and values needed to succeed at Tacodeli.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet the needs of the restaurant.
• Coach and develop the Assistant General Manager, Kitchen Manager, Hospitality Leaders and Team Members while identifying future leaders and building a strong leadership bench.
• Set clear expectations, provide timely feedback and hold the team accountable for performance.
• Address performance concerns through effective coaching, performance management and progressive discipline in partnership with the District Manager and Human Resources.
• Communicate directly and respectfully, including navigating difficult conversations and providing clear follow-up.
• Recognize strong performance, celebrate wins and foster a positive, inclusive team culture.

Lead Restaurant Operations

• Lead from the floor and work hands-on alongside the team while prioritizing and delegating based on business needs.
• Deploy the team effectively, putting the right people in the right positions at the right times based on individual strengths and restaurant needs.
• Role model and coach genuine hospitality while holding the team accountable to Tacodeli service standards.
• Partner with the Kitchen Manager to ensure consistent execution of food quality and kitchen operating standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable health department requirements and Tacodeli food safety, sanitation and quality standards.
• Hold the team accountable for food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, hospitality and consistent operational execution.
• Create and manage schedules that meet staffing needs, support business demands and achieve labor goals.

Own the Business

• Own restaurant performance, including sales, labor, food cost and other key performance indicators.
• Read and analyze financial reports and operational tools to understand restaurant performance and make informed decisions.
• Identify performance gaps, determine root causes and execute action plans to improve results.
• Track progress against restaurant goals and adjust plans when results are off target.
• Hold the restaurant leadership team accountable for operational and financial results.
• Partner with the District Manager to execute restaurant priorities and company initiatives.

• $70,000 starting annual salary plus up to $12,000 in annual bonus potential based on achievement of established goals.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Expected to work a schedule that provides leadership presence across all shifts and dayparts, including opening, closing, nights and weekends, to understand the full scope of restaurant operations and support the needs of the business.
• Restaurant management experience with demonstrated success leading teams and restaurant operations.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and developing Team Members and restaurant leaders.
• Ability to set clear expectations, delegate responsibilities, provide feedback and hold others accountable.
• Working knowledge of restaurant financials, including sales, labor, food cost and key performance indicators.
• Ability to read financial and operational reports, identify opportunities and develop actionable solutions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide direct feedback and navigate challenging conversations professionally.
• Strong organization, prioritization, time management and follow-through.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Hands-on leadership style and willingness to work alongside the team.
• Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation and restaurant operating standards.
