POSITION SUMMARY
The Sawmill Utility/Cleanup Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe sawmill environment. This position supports production by removing debris, assisting operators, handling materials, and performing general labor tasks as needed to keep operations running efficiently and safely.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Performs general sawmill cleanup
Monitors all waste conveyors to ensure smooth flow of materials to hog and chipper on the round table.
Clean and remove sawdust, bark, wood scraps, and debris from production areas, walkways, and equipment
Clean up debris under hog belt, on singulators, slasher and swing saw decks.
Directs all Dry End and Green End waste to include the drum chipper.
Re-enters hog overflow material occasionally.
Performs clean up in the hog building and resets hog metal detector and restarts hog belt.
Shovel, sweep, rake, or use industrial vacuums and conveyors to collect waste materials
Load debris into dumpsters, trucks, or designated disposal areas
Maintain clear and safe work areas to comply with OSHA and company safety standards
Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or hazards to supervisors
Perform routine housekeeping and assist with shutdown cleanups
Follow all safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
Other general labor duties as assigned
Maintains fuel/oil levels in chainsaws.
Refuels loader when needed.
Performs pre-trip inspection checklist.
When required, assist/relieves on other production jobs
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays if needed
Safety:
Operates in a safe manner in accordance with work safety rules, regulations and policies.
Recognize and eliminate all safety hazards.
Working Conditions:
Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 5075 lbs repeatedly
Physical requirements include regularly being required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, climb and balance
Willingness to work outdoors or in dusty, noisy, hot, or cold conditions
Working in confined spaces
Willingness to work outdoors or in dusty, noisy, hot, or cold conditions
Working around moving/rotating equipment
Ability to stand for particularly sustained periods of time
Frequent walking, reaching, pulling, stooping, lifting, pushing, grasping, climbing, and balancing
Ability to understand, remember, and apply instructions
Ability to apply best judgement in performing job duties which include making decisions and communicating
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
Must be 18 years old
Manufacturing or Warehouse experience preferred but not required

Schedule:
Full time, with potential for overtime
12 hours Shift work
Holidays
Extended day, evening, and weekend work (including Saturday & Sunday) may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
