Job description

Summary:
A HVAC Apprentice performs general labor and assistance under the direction of the Senior HVAC Technician to perform daily job requirements. Must maintain a positive attitude and image to function effectively in a team oriented customer service environment. Must exhibit creativity in problem solving, initiative, good communication skills, ability to organize, the ability to work under time constraints and a willingness to improve knowledge and skills.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist in routine repair, service and maintenance of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment
- Perform all tasks in a safe manner with adherence to Dowling Corporation Safety Policy using company provided PPE
- Use of power tools, equipment and electronic devices (phones, tablet, computer)
- Load and unload materials, tools and equipment
- Assist in lifting, positioning and securing of equipment and materials during repairs or installation
- Demonstrate focus and effort to gain basic skill set required for position of HVAC technician, including but not limited to, participating in a formal education program or technical school, attending in-house training opportunities or other training opportunities as directed by Service Supervisor.
Position Requirements:
- Must obtain necessary licenses when eligible to properly conduct HVAC work
- Able to safely operate a company vehicle and maintain a current driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Project a positive attitude towards clients, co-workers, management and job responsibilities
- Exhibit ability to focus on the task at hand and minimize distractions and non-productive work time
- Demonstrate innovation and initiative
- Hard-working, well organized, punctual and dependable
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Completion or enrollment in secondary HVAC Certificate program or Trade School with intent to complete air conditioning and heating segments.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, emails, text and other correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Also be able to interpret graphs and charts.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram (drawing) form.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Valid driver's license
EPA Universal refrigerant license (not a pre-requisite)
