Job description

Introduction

Maryland's Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program makes sure all workers in Maryland have paid time off for medical and family reasons. FAMLI is a social insurance system covering 2.6 million workers and 180,000 employers, delivered as a digitally native, public-facing service. We're in the early stages of building something as big and as far-reaching as unemployment insurance or a new health department. We know that delivering services primarily through a website, over the Internet, is a new way of doing business in government.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Financial Services Directorate is responsible for establishing and maintaining an efficient financial system, including internal controls and financial procedures, for the FAMLI Division. The Financial Services Directorate safeguards FAMLI funds and other assets, manages FAMLI contributions and benefits payouts, develops financial reports, prepares budgets and projections, and designs and conducts internal audits, as well as responding to external financial audits.\r\n\r\nThe General Accounting Supervisor plays an important role within the Financial Services Directorate and the overall FAMLI Division. The Supervisor works closely with the General Accounting Manager and Financial Services leadership to support and coordinate day-to-day General Accounting operations. The General Accounting Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the integrity of accounting records, reviewing and completing account reconciliations, monitoring the general ledger, supporting the budget process, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports to meet regulatory and compliance requirements. This position applies sound accounting knowledge to identify issues, provide recommendations, and support stakeholders while contributing to the fiscal integrity and operational success of FAMLI. If you are a proactive accounting professional with a commitment to public service and a passion for supporting strong financial operations, this is the job for you!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
