Key responsibilities

Job description

Keough Construction Law is seeking an experienced litigation attorney with 4-8 years of civil litigation experience to join its growing construction law practice.

This position is designed for an attorney who is capable of independently managing litigation matters and is looking for more than a traditional associate role. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to advance toward equity partnership in a growing construction practice while maintaining a substantially lower billable-hour requirement than is typical at larger law firms.

Construction law experience is preferred, but not required. We are primarily looking for a strong litigator with excellent judgment, legal research and writing skills, and the ability to take ownership of cases from inception through resolution or trial.

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of civil litigation experience, with substantial responsibility for cases from inception through resolution or trial;

  • Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload with limited supervision;

  • Significant experience with written discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, dispositive motions, and trial preparation;

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and written advocacy skills;

  • Strong oral advocacy, communication, and client-management skills;

  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and take ownership of assigned matters;

  • First-chair trial experience preferred, but not required;

  • Construction law experience preferred, but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $150,000-$200,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and annual billable-hour requirement;

  • Annual billable-hour requirement substantially below the requirements commonly associated with larger law firms, approximately 1,200-1,500 hours, depending on compensation, experience, and qualifications;

  • Performance-based bonus program for billable hours exceeding the attorney’s annual requirement;

  • Opportunity to earn equity in the firm and advance to partnership;

  • 15 days of paid time off annually;

  • 10 paid holidays annually;

  • Generous employer contribution to health benefits; and

  • 5% 401k match.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

This position offers an experienced litigator the opportunity to play a significant role in the continued growth of a thriving construction law practice without the high billable-hour requirements typically associated with larger firms.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to handle sophisticated litigation, work directly with clients, develop business, and assume increasing responsibility for the management and growth of the practice.

Most importantly, this is intended to be more than a senior associate position. For the right attorney, the position provides a direct and streamlined path toward equity partnership and the opportunity to help shape the future of the firm.

We are looking for an attorney who wants to take ownership of their cases, develop professionally and financially, and potentially become a long-term partner in the firm.

Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
