Position Summary:

KBR is seeking a motivated Full Stack Software Engineer to support the development, deployment, and sustainment of the GEMSTONE platform. This position is intended for engineers who want to develop expertise and interact with the DoD Platform One ecosystem and Unicorn Delivery Service (UDS). The selected candidate will support both application development and platform delivery activities, helping engineering teams deploy, operate, secure, optimize, and maintain applications within standardized government Kubernetes environments. The ideal candidate combines software engineering skills with an interest in platform engineering, cloud-native infrastructure, DevSecOps, containerization, and secure software delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack software applications supporting GEMSTONE platform capabilities.
  • Develop backend services using modern programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java that will interface with a React frontend.
  • Support deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of applications running on Kubernetes and Istio-based platforms.
  • Contribute to GitOps-based deployment workflows using technologies such as ArgoCD, Helm, and Kustomize.
  • Assist in implementing platform services including authentication, messaging, data storage, and observability solutions.
  • Assist in onboarding and operating applications within UDS and GEMSTONE Platform environments.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and service integrations.
  • Support configuration and troubleshooting of containerized applications.
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and automation activities.
  • Implement secure software development practices and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Work closely with DevSecOps engineers, platform engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders.
  • Contribute to infrastructure automation, GitOps workflows, and deployment documentation.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, code reviews, sprint planning, and demonstrations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ability to learn complex software ecosystems and rapidly become proficient in new platforms and technologies.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • 1-5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience with one or more typed programming languages:
    • GoLang
    • C# (modern cross-platform .NET)
    • Typescript
    • Java
  • Experience developing modern web applications using:
    • React
    • TypeScript
    • JavaScript
  • Experience with REST APIs and microservice architectures.
  • Experience using Git-based source control systems.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts such as pods, services, ingress, namespaces, and deployments.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tooling.

Desired:

  • Experience managing and deploying containerized applications in Kubernetes
  • Experience with AuthN/AuthZ , OIDC, JWTs, and RBAC/ABAC
  • Experience with performance-based tuning, API gateways, and load balancing
  • Experience with common DevOps tools such as Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting applications in cloud-native environments.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to Platform One, Big Bang, Iron Bank, or UDS environments.
  • Understanding of software factory concepts and secure software delivery.
  • Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or government software programs.
  • Interest in platform engineering and cloud-native infrastructure operations.
