The Specialty Program Instructor III is responsible for instructing and monitoring Adult Basic Education (ABE) and High School Equivalency (GED) classes for participants enrolled in the YMCA’s Project Connect Adult Education Program.  The Specialty Program Instructor III provides upgraded literacy and basic academic skills in reading, writing, social studies, science, and math.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, or a related field, required.
  • Experience teaching adult learners preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and human relations skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with community agencies and partners.
  • Knowledge of instructional content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment for adult education and HSE/GED preparation.
  • Commitment to serving diverse communities, including low-income families and English language learners.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently at a satellite site.
  • Basic technology skills, including distance learning tools, email communication, and teaching computer skills to adult learners.
  • Completion of all position-specific and required YMCA training within established deadlines.
