Job description
- Curriculum Development: Design and develop curriculum materials, lesson plans, and learning activities aligned with state educational standards to effectively teach high school-level subjects, including math, English, science, and social studies.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to various learning styles and abilities, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
- Assessment and Progress Tracking: Create and administer assessments to evaluate participants' understanding of the material, track their progress, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Individualized Support: Identify participants' strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs, offering individualized instruction and support to help them succeed academically.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured and respectful classroom environment, ensuring participant safety, discipline, and adherence to program policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other instructors, program staff, and support services to address participants' academic and personal needs holistically.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and participant performance, and provide regular updates to program leadership and support services.
- Professional Development: Stay current with educational best practices, curriculum trends, and teaching methodologies to continuously enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Teaching, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- New York State Teaching Certification in the appropriate subject area(s) for high school-level instruction.
- Proven experience in teaching high school-level subjects, preferably in alternative education settings, adult education, or similar programs.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of participants.
