This commitment involves the opportunity to achieve full recreational experiences through individual, team and family activities. The City of Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department has two public indoor swimming facilities. All City of Huntsville swimming facilities have certified lifeguards.

Aquatic Instructor Position Overview: This is specialized recreation work and limited supervisory work in conducting swimming classes and lessons and supervising public swimming activities. Work involves responsibility for teaching and conducting a variety of swimming classes and lessons and for supervising regular swimming activities. Work also involves responsibility for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the pool and equipment.

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements: Proof of enrollment or High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency and some experience as a qualified lifeguard and instructor at a large public swimming pool or aquatic facility.
