Testing may involve specific criteria such as weather resistance, comfort, or efficiency. Some Gear Testers work freelance, while others are employed by brands or media outlets.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a gear tester?

To thrive as a Gear Tester, you need in-depth knowledge of outdoor equipment or mechanical gear, attention to detail, and practical experience using a range of products. Collaboration is common, as you'll frequently discuss your findings with designers, quality assurance, and marketing personnel to help ensure the gear meets user expectations.
