Job description

Job Description Summary
We're looking for a Lead Sourcing Engineer to help bring a next-generation MRI technology-our Gradient Coil platform-to market.
In this role, you'll lead sourcing strategy for a critical new product introduction (NPI), partnering closely with engineering to build the supply base from the ground up. You'll work at the intersection of engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing-playing a key role early in the product development process to ensure we deliver high-quality, innovative products on time and at the right cost.
This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role with the opportunity to directly influence product design, supplier strategy, and the successful launch of a new MR platform.
Location: Florence, SC - hybrid (3+ days on site)
Travel: Up to 20% (domestic)
Relocation: Available
Sponsorship: Not available for this role
Job Description
What You'll Do
  • Lead sourcing strategy and execution for new product introduction (NPI) programs-from early design through production launch
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to shape supplier strategy, selection, and early design decisions
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that meet technical, quality, and cost requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, providing input on manufacturability, cost optimization, and supplier feasibility
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives, including should-cost analysis and supplier negotiations
  • Balance cost, quality, and innovation in sourcing decisions
  • Bring forward supplier capabilities, new technologies, and ideas to support product development
  • Own ongoing supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and cost metrics
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supplier-related risks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, sourcing, and manufacturing teams
  • Support and expand early supplier involvement (ESI) capabilities within MR
  • Ensure suppliers meet all quality and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sourcing, supplier engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain within a technical environment
  • Hands-on experience working with engineering specifications, technical drawings, and product requirements
  • Experience working directly with suppliers (sourcing, supplier quality, manufacturing, or similar)
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate technical requirements across engineering teams and suppliers
  • Experience leading or owning sourcing efforts for new product introduction (NPI) or product development programs
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device preferred; aerospace, automotive, or similar also considered)
  • Experience with complex components or assemblies
  • Experience driving cost reduction initiatives and supplier negotiations

Why This Role
  • Work on next-generation MRI technology that directly impacts patient care
  • Influence product design early-not just execution after decisions are made
  • Shape supplier strategy and bring innovation into the development process
  • Collaborate with a highly technical, mission-driven team
  • Opportunity to grow within a global organization

Location & Benefits
  • Florence, SC (onsite) - relocation support available
  • Competitive salary range + annual bonus
  • Full GE HealthCare benefits package
  • Strong career growth and internal mobility opportunities

A Note to Candidates
We know not every candidate will meet every qualification-and that's okay. If your experience is close and you're excited about the opportunity, we encourage you to apply.
