As a Staff Software Engineer at General Electric Company, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions across various GE business units. You will leverage your technical expertise to solve challenging problems, mentor junior engineers, and drive best practices in software engineering.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, reliable, and secure software applications and systems.
  • Architect and build robust APIs, microservices, and data processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance, and security best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects and performance issues in production environments.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes to improve development efficiency and product quality.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Contribute to the strategic technical direction of the team and department.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 4 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 7 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 9 years of professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in software development with a strong emphasis on building enterprise-grade applications.
  • Strong experience with Vue or other UI frameworks.
  • Experience leveraging AI development tools such as Claude and/ or Copilot.
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

Eligibility Requirement:

Desired Qualifications:
  • Expert proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, C++, Go, or JavaScript (Node.js).
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of software architecture patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
