Job Description Summary
The Staff Model-Based Systems Engineer will provide leadership for initiatives with broad scope & high business impact. They will have a demonstrated record of project leadership and process excellence. The role is guided by operating policy. Works with cross functional teams. The role has autonomy within the operational area or a segment within a larger business unit. The role may have a major impact on a small business unit or Family within a Function, or P&L. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user's needs. Systems engineers execute a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and program management leadership
  • Develop collaborative solutions working across horizontal support organizations
  • Support the teams in modernizing design and systems engineering processes with lean tools.
  • Execute modelling within an MBSE environment aligned with best practices and industry standards, related but not limited to: requirements, functional architecture, logical architecture, physical architecture, interfaces, and trade studies.
  • Effectively manage a collaborative digital environment by supporting data management, tool and process sustainment, authoritative sources of truth, digital threads, and data integration.
  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams, mentor others in the organization.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technologies smoothly into NPI programs and production
  • Other Model-Based Enterprise responsibilities as-required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Due to security requirements, this position must be able to work a full-time in the office schedule

Desired Characteristics
  • 10 years of relevant experience in gas turbine engines
  • 2 years of relevant experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
  • Active participation in a minimum of 1 development engine test program with significant ownership in test planning and/or execution
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
