Job description

Job Title: EMS/SCADA Integration Specialist - GE EMS
Location: Remote
Type: Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced EMS/SCADA Specialist with strong expertise in GE EMS systems to support the integration, validation, and optimization of RT SCADA data with our Energy Management System. This role requires a deep understanding of real-time grid operations and system validation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the integration of RT SCADA data streams into the GE EMS platform (e-terra or similar).
  • Configure and maintain EMS applications including real-time monitoring, alarming, contingency analysis, and state estimation.
  • Perform validation of EMS functionalities, ensuring data accuracy and system reliability.
  • Support system upgrades, patch management, and compliance documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in SCADA/EMS environments.
  • Collaborate with system operators, IT, and engineering teams to optimize EMS workflows.
  • Develop technical documentation, including design specs, validation test plans, and procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in SCADA and EMS systems.
  • Hands-on experience with GE EMS / GE e-terra platform is a must.
  • Deep knowledge of SCADA protocols (IEC 60870, DNP3, ICCP/TASE.2).
  • Strong experience in system validation, testing, and QA practices.
  • Familiarity with energy utility standards (NERC CIP, FERC, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
  • Experience in power system modeling and real-time applications.
  • Prior experience working with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) or Utilities.
