Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a dynamic Product Manager to lead product strategy and delivery for a next-generation federal platform modernization program. In this pivotal role, you'll drive innovation across a multi-year effort to consolidate legacy systems into a unified, modern platform, deliver high-impact solutions in a cross-functional SAFe Agile environment, and serve as the critical bridge between federal mission needs and engineering execution.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Product Manager, the work you do at GDIT will directly shape how a federal agency modernizes mission-critical operations and retires legacy tools.

  • Lead product strategy and backlog ownership for a platform consolidating fragmented legacy systems into a unified, modern solution
  • Collaborate with federal stakeholders, UX designers, and engineering teams to translate complex policy and operational requirements into actionable product roadmaps
  • Drive measurable outcomes through OKRs, User Validation Events, and quarterly roadmap delivery aligned to contractual milestones
  • Utilize SAFe ceremonies, hypothesis-driven development, and data-driven prioritization to manage a multi-increment product lifecycle

Responsibilities

  • Drive product strategy, discovery, and development for complex federal mission capabilities
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog with traceability to contractual commitments and mission objectives
  • Engage with federal executives and program leadership, presenting insights, strategies, and progress updates through monthly health indicators and quarterly roadmap reviews
  • Manage the product roadmap across base year and option year scope, balancing system consolidation with future capability growth
  • Cultivate strong relationships with federal customers to ensure project success, conduct User Validation Events (UVEs), and identify opportunities to expand platform value
  • Translate intricate domain concepts into tangible artifacts and actionable product strategies
  • Coordinate cross-team dependencies with DevSecOps, security/compliance, and UX

Core Product Skills

  • Strong product mindset including hypothesis-driven development and data-driven results
  • User-centered thinking and ability to collaborate with UX teams on complex federal workflows
  • Strategic roadmapping and prioritization across contractual milestones
  • SAFe Agile methodologies - PI Planning, sprint reviews, backlog refinement
  • Day-to-day backlog and delivery management with Jira or equivalent
  • Stakeholder management and communication at both technical and executive levels

Leadership and Relationship Building

  • Ability to mobilize cross-functional teams towards achieving key mission outcomes
  • Strategic vision to align product initiatives with the customer's modernization goals
  • Expertise in navigating complex federal client ecosystems and building long-term partnerships
  • Skill in identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities within existing client relationships
  • Capacity to influence and gain buy-in from both internal stakeholders and federal executives
  • Proven track record of leading high-impact projects that deliver measurable results

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: 7+ years of product management experience within a scaled Agile or SAFe organization
  • Demonstrated experience in product strategy and development on federal IT modernization programs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple full product lifecycles from discovery to delivery
  • Technical background sufficient to drive engineering deliverables and understand ATO/DevSecOps processes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, adept at federal stakeholder management
  • Security clearance: Active Secret
  • US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification
  • Familiarity with low-code platforms and legacy system migration strategies
  • Prior experience supporting system decommissioning efforts
  • Experience with federal regulatory or policy-driven domains

The likely salary range for this position is $174,250 - $235,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
