About The Role:
The Product Performance Manager (PPM) ensures a quality management system is established, implemented, and maintained. The PPM is the liaison between our customers' needs and interpreting those needs to the mill to make sure our customers are satisfied.
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, based on changing business needs of the company.
  • Participate in all Quality Calls, Quality Summits, and mill leadership meetings.
  • Lead Quality System requirements
  • Lead and assist trials conducted at the mill level
  • Ensure all customer requirements are being met
  • Knowledge of Omega & Proficy: how to setup auto disposition, add new PMPs and change specification limits
  • Responsible for ensuring customers and freight forwarders get the right CoAs per production order, setup new customers in the CoA database or make changes based on AE feedback
  • Ensure CoAs are uploaded into customer Portals if necessary
  • Responsible for ensuring the teams use the i-Auditor > 95% YTD for vehicle inspections
  • Investigate complaints and lead corrective actions to eliminate repeats, act as the face of the mill during quality non-conformances
  • Report on product performance, quality trends and quality metrics to daily operations, mill leadership and corporate quality and technology managers
  • Work closely with our Customers, AE's and Sales, understand how orders are entered, planned and executed to meet the doc-cut dates
  • Review any quality issues at the mill and communicate internally and externally accordingly
  • Assist the Quality Manager with CBAs, Best Practice improvements and the QMS Manual Implementation
  • Make sure existing employees, new-hires, visitors, and contractors receive quality training for customer information on some frequency
  • Responsible for ensuring new warehouse operators are properly training on customer needs and proper package handling and loading skills
  • Be the contract coordinator for Product Unit pest control
  • Assist in High Risk mill audits, customer audits, and FMEA
  • Provide time of manufacture quality information to CTS representatives on a timely basis
  • Participate in periodic Quality Summits
  • Assist in the annual ISO audits and re-certification
  • Assist the Quality Manager with managing new product development trials at the mill, including developing trial plans with the Quality Manager and coordinating shipments with the warehouse
  • Responsible for making real time mill quality decisions that will ensure optimum product performance
  • Responsible for completing the quality summary for the weekly Mill Manager call, monthly quality results summary, the mill Quality Observation Program and reports results to CTS
  • Participate in monthly customer scorecard calls
  • Participate in the weekly GCF Quality calls
  • Work closely with contractor on container quality to ensure no contaminate is sent to our customers
  • Lead on some frequency a warehouse and package handling audit with external GCF resource
  • Audit raw material suppliers on some frequency or as necessary
  • Responsible for creating capital project quality assurance start up plans to protect mill and customers from defective products
  • Responsible for management of customer on-site visits to include but not limited to development and delivery of presentations and coordinating schedules for internal sales, external customers, and mill participants
  • Ability to lead/facilitate cross-functional teams to resolve customer quality improvement efforts as well as any troubleshooting efforts
  • Champion of continuous improvement efforts of products and the customer product experience

Quality Expectations
  • Ensure an understanding of quality policy and support efforts for a positive customer experience.
  • Aid in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts as needed to help maintain mill quality standards.

About You: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum
  • 8 years experience, 10 preferred, in a manufacturing lead position in pulp and paper mill(s).
  • Demonstrated management experience with accountability for safety, people development and performance
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills; problem solving, negotiation, presentation, and training delivery skills.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including experience with salaried direct reports, combined with technical paper-making knowledge required

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or pulp and paper science
  • Experience working at multiple mills
  • Six Sigma Black Belt (Yellowbelt minimum - Minitab Experience)
