Job description

Job Summary:
The Gate Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of Hickmans Egg Ranch by monitoring and controlling access to the property. This role involves verifying the identity of visitors, inspecting vehicles, and ensuring adherence to biosecurity and safety protocols. The Gate Security Guard will act as the first point of contact for employees, visitors, and vendors, providing excellent customer service while maintaining strict security standards.


Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Monitor and control entry and exit points, verifying identities, and logging all visitors, employees, and vehicles.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections as needed to ensure adherence to biosecurity protocols.
  • Enforce company policies regarding property access, safety, and security, ensuring unauthorized individuals do not gain entry.
  • Provide accurate and clear directions or instructions to visitors, contractors, and employees regarding property rules and designated areas.
  • Respond to alarms, emergency situations, and any incidents on-site, coordinating with management and law enforcement if necessary.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of daily activities, incidents, and visitor access.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the gate area and immediate surroundings to detect any security or safety risks.
  • Report any unusual activity, safety concerns, or suspicious behavior to the Security Manager promptly.
  • Ensure that all security equipment, such as gates, cameras, and radios, is in working condition and report any malfunctions.
  • Provide a positive and professional impression to visitors and employees, upholding the company’s reputation.
Requirements and Skills:
  • Proven experience as a security guard, gatekeeper, or in a similar security role.
  • Strong observational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and procedures, including familiarity with access control systems.
