Installation Technician

ITW Food Equipment Group LLC designs and manufactures commercial food equipment for food service and retail customers through its subsidiaries. The companyโ€™s products include ware washing equipment; cooking equipment, including ovens, ranges, and broilers; refrigeration equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and prep tables; food processing equipment, including slicers, mixers, and scales; and kitchen exhaust, ventilation, and pollution control systems. ITW FEG has the largest service network in this industry to support our global customers, with highly specialized technicians and best-in-class supply chain procedures. The company was incorporated in 2001 and is based in Troy, Ohio. ITW Food Equipment Group LLC is an Illinois Tool Works Inc. subsidiary. 

SUMMARY

The Installation Technician is responsible for assisting with the installation, assembly, inspection, and basic maintenance of commercial food equipment. This role supports installation projects by uncrating, moving, positioning, and assembling equipment, as well as ensuring proper operation under supervision. The Installation Technician will also be responsible for driving service and delivery vehicles to transport equipment safely to job sites using lift-gates.

The selected candidate will work closely with Service Technicians and Branch team members and must be flexible to work hours as required, including travel and overnight assignments when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These are the most significant job duties performed. The size, scope and complexity of assigned duties and responsibilities are dependent on the level and experience of the incumbent. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each assigned essential duty satisfactorily. Other responsibilities or special projects not specifically listed below may also be assigned.

  • Assist with the installation, assembly, inspection, and basic maintenance of commercial food equipment

  • Uncrate, move, and position equipment safely at customer sites

  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper operation and report issues as needed

  • Drive service and delivery trucks to deliver or pick up equipment using lift-gate systems

  • Assist Service Technicians and Branch employees with installation and service activities

  • Support customers by providing courteous service and addressing basic questions or concerns

  • Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and procedures

  • Manage expense reports and travel-related documentation as required

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle appearance

  • Work flexible hours, including overtime, extended driving days, and travel as needed

  • Demonstrate willingness to develop skills toward a future Service/Repair Technician role

Supervisory Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience

  • 1โ€“2 years of experience in a related field

  • Ability to work safely with mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Basic knowledge of welding, hydraulics, and/or electrical systems

  • Basic understanding of mechanical troubleshooting

  • Basic plumbing and soldering knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of COโ‚‚ and Freon systems

  • Familiarity with safely moving tools and equipment

  • Strong customer service skills, including resolving customer concerns

  • Ability to manage expense reports and travel-related documentation

  • Willingness to grow into a Service/Repair Technician role

  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus

  • Valid driverโ€™s license with an acceptable driving record
