Job Summary

A scheduler is responsible for executing and managing daily natural gas operations, including nominations, confirmations, and imbalance mitigation, to ensure accurate delivery of gas behind each LDC. This role partners closely with trading, wholesale, LDCs, and internal stakeholders to optimize transportation and storage assets while maintaining compliance with tariffs and balancing retail pools effectively. Additionally, the scheduler develops strong cross-functional relationships, leverages internal and external systems to execute transactions, and supports process improvement through automation, reporting, and technology collaboration.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer usage data and develop forecasts.
  • Communicate with trading and wholesale teams to determine the correct supply solutions.
  • Nominate gas to Local Distribution Company (LDC) websites.
  • Confirm nominations and make daily adjustments as needed to keep positions balanced.
  • Trade imbalances with counterparties to keep pools balanced and mitigate penalties.
  • Gain an understanding of LDC tariffs and how they affect your daily activity.
  • Build relationships with sales, trading, wholesale and LDC representatives.
  • Communicate professionally with customers when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be comfortable working with hard deadlines and off normal hours if needed.
  • Work on rotating on-call schedule.
  • Periodic travel as business requires.

Minimum Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED possible with demonstrated aptitude for math and Excel ability.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excel skills at a moderate or advanced level.
  • Must be comfortable working with multiple computer programs and be willing to work on and learn new technology.
  • Ability to multi-task and strategically think outside the box.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years or more experience with natural gas scheduling or within a commodity-based industry.
  • Experience with statistical analysis.

The base salary range for this position is: $68,000 - $100,000. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
