About the Role:

The Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) program at an assigned facility. Working under limited supervision, this position requires proactive engagement on the production floor and close collaboration with the Operations Teams to identify and mitigate risks. The Safety Coordinator may report to a facility Safety Specialist, Senior Safety Coordinator, or HSE Manager, and will also receive direction from the Senior HSE Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Begin each shift on the production floor, actively engaging with teams during morning meetings, pre-task planning, and stretch-and-flex activities.
  • Monitor facility operations for compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Identify, document, and follow up on unsafe acts or conditions; ensure resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a member of the facility's first aid and emergency response team; provide care for injured employees when necessary.
  • Lead or support onboarding and ongoing HSE training for employees and contractors.
  • Educate, coach, and mentor personnel on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
  • Conduct safety briefings for contractors/subcontractors entering Maverick Power facilities to communicate safety protocols.
  • Compile documentation, data, and photographs; prepare reports in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure completion of required inspections (e.g., PPE, tools, fire extinguishers, fall protection, equipment) on a daily, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Support crisis management and emergency response programs, including leading emergency drills (fire, severe weather).
  • Maintain detailed documentation and accurate records of findings, reports, and inspections.
  • Represent HSE in facility meetings, identify training needs, and flag upcoming high-risk work.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) and project kickoff meetings to proactively address potential safety concerns.
  • Conduct environmental and industrial hygiene testing as required (e.g., dosimeter, light meter, gas meter).
  • Provide safety support to other Maverick Power facilities in the local area as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field; OR minimum of 3 years of relevant HSE experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time experience in a Safety role within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in: conducting safety training, hazard/risk assessments, and incident investigations with root cause analysis.
  • Equivalent military experience will be considered in lieu of traditional education or industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Confidence in addressing unsafe acts and conditions at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Fluent in English with full professional proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
  • Professional safety certification(s) such as ASP, CSP, OHST, or equivalent
  • Experience with HOP, Risk Analysis, HRA’s, MCC’s, and Learning Teams
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO procedures).
  • At least 1 year of experience in construction site safety.
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR with AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP).
  • Proficiency in Vietnamese and/or Spanish is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have full range of dexterity in all body parts.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and work from heights as needed.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts, dollies, pallet jacks, etc...
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required.
  • Must be able to identify the full spectrum of colors.
  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and able to perform work while wearing safety glasses (contact lenses are not allowed in manufacturing/production areas)
  • Must not have hearing loss or must be corrected with hearing aids
  • Work, maybe indoor or outdoor, vary by location and season.
  • Hot, cold, humid, wet conditions are possible at times.
  • May encounter loud noises, flashing lights, strong smells, insects, and dust.
  • Extended periods of time on feet and walking on concreate floors, standing on hard surfaces or irregular terrain, walking on level surfaces or irregular terrain, climbing ladders and steps, bending, sitting, twisting, or pushing may be required at times.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel to work or other facilities to support safety.

May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
