Position Overview
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Lafayette, IN, supporting the design and release of engine components within a Valvetrain component team. The Mechanical Design Engineer - Engine Components will work closely with a component design engineer to execute key project tasks, serve as the primary point of contact for print detailing, releasing, and CAD design work, and collaborate with external suppliers on new component design through the APQP process. This role also plays an important part in ensuring customer success by helping identify and correct product issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute key project tasks in support of the component design engineer
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for print work, including detailing and releasing, as well as CAD design work
  • Support new component design through APQP collaboration with external suppliers
  • Help ensure customer success by identifying and correcting product problems
  • Perform component modeling, tolerance stack-up analysis, deviation investigations, and parts inspection
  • Lead team meetings as needed and update project plans and status reports
  • Provide daily updates on activities to design engineers and team leads

Team Structure & Work Environment
This role provides support to the design engineer on Valvetrain components and operates within an office-based work environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required; Master's degree considered
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience
