What are we looking for?
The GC Technical Manageris responsible for the technical oversight of all gas chromatography instrumentation and methodologies, including method development, instrument maintenance, personnel training, and quality system compliance. Partners with laboratory management to expand analytical capabilities and maintain operational excellence through continuous improvement and technical expertise.

What you'll do:
  • Provide technical leadership and serve as the subject matter expert for all gas chromatography instrumentation, analytical methods, and laboratory operations
  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize GC and GC-MS instrumentation to ensure reliable operation and minimal downtime
  • Develop, validate, implement, and maintain analytical methods in accordance with ASTM, ISO, EPA, and customer requirements
  • Train, qualify, and mentor laboratory personnel on GC instrumentation, analytical methods, troubleshooting, and laboratory best practices
  • Lead and maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality system requirements, including audit preparation, technical documentation, and continuous improvement activities
  • Review, develop, and maintain laboratory SOPs, test methods, work instructions, and technical documentation to ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
  • Perform routine technical assessments of analytical methods, monitor instrument performance, and implement corrective actions to improve data quality and laboratory efficiency.
  • Manage instrument maintenance schedules, service records, consumable inventory, calibration standards, and vendor relationships for laboratory instrumentation.
  • Provide technical support to laboratory staff, customers, and management regarding analytical capabilities, method limitations, troubleshooting, and new testing opportunities.
  • Evaluate and recommend new instrumentation, software, and analytical technologies to expand laboratory capabilities and support business growth.
    Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline
  • 5 years experience with Gas Chromatography
  • Advanced knowledge of gas chromatography (GC) and GC-MS instrumentation, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred
  • Experience maintaining compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality management systems, including participation in internal and external accreditation audits
  • Proven experience training and mentoring laboratory personnel and providing technical support for analytical testing and instrumentation
