Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Test Software Engineer 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for building upon existing testing frameworks and methodologies to develop basic tests for Garmin products.
Essential Functions
  • Develops test software in C, C++, LabWindow's CVI, TestStand, or other selected languages in accordance with Garmin's software development methodology to test the performance and functionality of Garmin's communication and navigation products
  • Troubleshoots basic testing problems, correctly identifies root cause of failures, works with project team to resolve issues
  • Uses test development tools and equipment (in-house and commercial) to test appliances
  • Consistently follows Test Development Standard and project test procedure definitions
  • May be responsible for planning own technical work
  • Applies design standards and procedures using appropriate engineering tools to document and implement basic designs in an organized manner

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Experience and/or training in high level computer languages such as C/C++ and scripting languages relevant to Garmin's business needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to develop tests and troubleshoot basic testing problems

Desired Qualifications
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Relevant experience in TestStand
  • Training in GPIB / IEEE interfaces with test equipment
