Truck Unloader and Site Helper for Food Pantry

Initiative: Beyond the Basics

Impact area: Basic Needs (food, clothing, housing)

Location(s): Hartford, CT

Hours: Second and fourth Friday of the month, 11:00am-3:00pm

Desired level of commitment: Twice per month

Duration: Year-round

Age requirement: 18+

Tasks may include:

  • Setting up tables and chairs
  • Unloading the truck
  • Sorting food items according to the specified stations
  • Throwing out garbage
  • Breaking down empty boxes and disposing of them
  • Cleaning and organizing

In order to volunteer, you should be:

  • A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
  • Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
  • Willing to submit a background check
  • Willing to complete additional host site specific paperwork and requirements
  • Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
