Were looking for a creative, patient, and tech-savvy instructor who can guide young students through the basics of music production using GarageBand in a fun and supportive classroom environment.

Position Overview:
Were seeking an enthusiastic Music Production Instructor to teach students in grades 37 the fundamentals of digital music creation using GarageBand on macOS. The ideal candidate combines strong music production skills with a love for teaching and the ability to connect with children through engaging, project-based learning.
Youll lead small-group sessions where students learn rhythm, melody, and digital compositionbuilding confidence and creativity while producing their own original tracks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small-group classes introducing students (ages 812) to music production using GarageBand
  • Teach core music concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and song structure through hands-on projects
  • Demonstrate how to record, edit, and mix tracks using GarageBand tools (loops, Drummer, MIDI, effects, etc.)
  • Encourage creative exploration while maintaining a positive, organized, and supportive learning environment
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues with software, MIDI keyboards, and classroom equipment
  • Collaborate with the Learning Experience Manager and other instructors to align lessons with program goals
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to help students grow as creators

Qualifications:

  • Have strong working knowledge of GarageBand (macOS) and digital audio basics
  • Are familiar with MIDI editing, loops, EQ, reverb, delay, and basic mixing
  • Understand fundamental music theory (rhythm, chords, melody)
  • Have experience teaching or mentoring elementary school students (ages 812)
  • Can explain technical concepts in simple, engaging, and age-appropriate ways
  • Bring energy, patience, and clear communication to every class
  • Are reliable, organized, and professional with excellent time management
  • Are comfortable following a provided curriculum while adding your own creative flair
Preferred but Not Required

  • Bachelors degree in Music, Audio Engineering, or Music Education
  • Experience with other DAWs (Logic Pro X, FL Studio, Ableton Live)
  • Background in performing, composing, or producing music professionally
  • Knowledge of project-based learning or youth arts programs
