What's the Job?

The Jackbox Games Marketing Team is bursting with opportunities and challenges as more people than ever are discovering our games! We are releasing more new games every year and we have big ambitions to turn more of our IP into games recognized and enjoyed by households across the United States and beyond.

We are looking for an experienced Contract Video Editor with 5+ years of professional experience editing high-end marketing materials who can work hand-in-hand with our marketing team to cut trailers, cutdowns, and promotional spots that inspire more people to play our games. This person will concept, edit, and iterate marketing videos from first assembly through final deliverables; execute cutdowns of existing assets into shorter variants; and work with large stringouts of raw live-action footage to pull high-quality selects - all in both horizontal and vertical formats.

Our games are built on comedy, and that same playful spirit carries through into our marketing videos, from a quick cutdown for a PlayStation sale to the trailer we cut to launch a new title around the holidays. We also utilize a lot of live action video of people enjoying our games in advertisements, so it's easy to quickly understand the environments our games exist within. This person will report to the Senior Creative Producer, but also run creative concepts by the Chief Creative Officer for feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of promotional materials for our products and website
  • Concept, edit, and iterate trailers and promotional spots, from first assembly through final deliverables
  • Execute cutdowns of existing marketing assets. For example, cutting a 60-second spot down to its essential components, hitting 30- and 15-second variants with limited direction.
  • Handle large stringouts of raw live action footage
Creating organized stringouts of gameplay recordings, and pulling high-quality selects
  • Edit and deliver finished content in both horizontal and vertical formats
  • Work with our Marketing Producer to make sure any advertising video we create has received approval from platform representatives and internal stakeholders

Ideal Candidates Will Have...

  • 5+ years of professional experience editing high-end marketing materials in both horizontal and vertical formats
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere
  • Proficiency in the full Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic motion graphics and design skills
  • A strong feel for structure, timing, energy, and rhythm
  • Comfort making bold creative choices
  • A goofy, playful sense of humor
  • Awareness of social media trends, with the ability to ideate and pitch new content that ties the brand to these trends
  • A strong ability to prioritize varied workloads with long and short-term deadlines
  • A team player mindset. Our marketing department intersects with almost every other department in our company and you will need to be able to work effectively both on your own and as part of a larger group.
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality. We have a very entrepreneurial, get-it-done culture that takes pride in our strong work ethic and low tolerance for micromanaging or posturing.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Submit your reel and/or portfolio
  • Provide additional relevant samples, including (as available): professional samples of trailers and promos (film, TV, video games, or product); professional samples of trailer cutdowns; high-performing examples of shortform social content; and any personal work you're proud of (comedy, sketch, narrative, or otherwise)
  •  Submit a cover letter that highlights why you think you'd be a great member of our marketing team, focusing on how your past work experience has prepared you for this kind of position as well as links to any video or static content that exists online that you've had a hand in. We weigh cover letters heavily.

We know it is a time commitment to prepare an application and we respect that effort by thoughtfully reviewing every complete application and responding one way or the other. But that kind of thoughtful review means that it sometimes takes us a while to get back to applicants, so please be patient with us and no phone calls.
