Welcome to the world of land-based gaming. At Light & Wonder, it's all about the games, and our Gaming team builds cutting-edge technology, products, and content for the most iconic casinos and operators across the globe.

Position Summary

Our Reno team at Light & Wonder develops games for the specialty markets. We design and develop custom content for our Central Determination, Class II, Historical Horse Racing, and Class III markets. These markets are located across the United States and Canada. It is an exciting environment where game designers, mathematicians, engineers, artists, sound designers, and testers work together to produce some of the best content for the market.

We are looking for a creative and passionate Associate Mathematician to design and proof math models for our gaming products and to work closely with game designers, producers, engineers, and graphic and sound artists. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver high quality and timely math models. It will also require the coding, testing, and debugging of game simulations in an existing framework. This position must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and is accountable for the thorough implementation of all tasks assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

Work with game designers and mathematicians to develop proof of concept and feasible math models.

Develop and generate math models that demonstrate gaming probabilities and mathematical return of games via theoretical calculation and/or simulation.

Participate and contribute in the game design and invention process.

Work with engineers to ensure correct implementation of math models.

Deliver high-quality work as scheduled in accordance with the game design and product requirements.

Provide computer simulation and analysis of existing and new math models.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Computer Science preferred. Bachelor's degree in EE or Physics or other scientific fields with a strong mathematical background considered.

Experience:

1-2 years of working knowledge in the areas of applied mathematics, probability, or combinatorics.

1-2 years of experience with C++, C#, Python or similar object-oriented programming language.

Experience in Microsoft Excel and Visual Studio a plus.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Expert knowledge of probability.

Knowledge of programming languages, software development, design patterns and object-oriented programming.

Ability to create spreadsheets and software simulations to verify math models.

Ability to identify, research, and solve gaming related problems.

Ability to interface and communicate with other members of the game development staff.

Ability to bring projects to completion with minimal supervision.

Good written and verbal communication skills and a high level of interpersonal skills.

Must be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a customer-oriented, very fast-paced, demanding, and deadline-driven environment.

Must enjoy working in a creative environment.
