Job description

We Are Looking for a Sr. Data Scientist, Gaming
Open World was incubated within gaming firm Loaded and is a full-service, community-minded marketing agency connecting brands and developers with gamers around the world.

Our Research & Data Analytics (R/DA) team is building the next generation of player intelligence for the gaming industry. Rather than treating research and analytics as separate disciplines, weโ€™re integrating multiple sources of player data to create a more holistic understanding of gamers.

At the center of this effort is PlayDX, our intelligence platform that brings together behavioral data, community sentiment, qualitative and quantitative research, and advanced analytics to uncover the motivations, tensions, and connections players form with games, shaping how they discover, engage with, and stay loyal to them. This integrated approach gives publishers and studios dynamic access to player insights, helping teams anticipate player behavior, respond more quickly to the signals that matter most, and make better decisions across marketing, product, and community strategy.

Our team thrives on curiosity, analytical rigor, and a passion for gaming. We are looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to help expand our analytical capabilities and deepen the insights generated from our growing intelligence platform.

If that ignites or intrigues you, keep readingโ€ฆ
As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will help translate large-scale behavioral gaming data into predictive models, analytical frameworks, and scalable systems. Reporting to the SVP of Research & Data Analytics, you will work closely with research, analytics, and product teams to develop methodologies and tools that power PlayDX and other data products. This highly hands-on role combines advanced modeling and cross-functional collaboration to generate player intelligence products and insights that inform game launches, live service operations, and product and marketing strategy.

On any given day you mightโ€ฆ

  • Analyze large-scale behavioral gaming datasets to uncover patterns in player behavior, engagement, retention, and cross-game activity
  • Develop statistical models and analytical frameworks to serve as the foundation for our data products and insightsย
  • Translate complex behavioral data into clear, actionable recommendations that inform marketing, product, and community strategy for Open Worldโ€™s campaigns team and our publisher and studio partnersย
  • Communicate analytical findings through clear narratives, data visualizations, and presentations for both internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Collaborate with research and product teams to integrate behavioral data with survey and community sentiment to generate a more complete view of gamer decision-making
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal and client-facing analytical tools, workflows, and methodologies that support the continued growth of behavioral datasets and scalable insights

To qualify, you have...

  • 3+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics roles
  • Strong experience working with large behavioral datasets and complex data environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Python or R (or similar tools) for statistical analysis and modeling
  • Experience building models such as clustering, classification, regression, and predictive modeling; machine learning experience a plus, but curiosity and a willingness to learn are essential
  • Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Experience translating complex analyses into clear narratives through data visualization, presentations, and written insights
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and collaborating with research, product, and strategy teams
  • Hands-on experience managing projects and coordinating with internal stakeholders or clients
  • Experience with SQL or querying large-scale datasets is a plus
  • Interest in gaming, entertainment, or digital ecosystems

Why Join Us?

  • Work in a fast-paced and exciting industry with a smart and scrappy team of kind and passionate peopleย
  • Learn a lot and make a big impact in a start-up like environmentย
  • Be a part of the evolution of gaming research and insights with innovative data collection and analytical solutionsย
  • Shape gaming insights and impact business strategies for AAA publishers and indie studios
  • Competitive compensation and professional growth opportunities
  • A culture that values curiosity, innovation, the human experience, and data-driven decision-making

If you are ready to turn your expertise in data science and love of gaming into meaningful insights, we want to hear from you! Apply today and be an early and key member of our R/DA team.
