Overview:

 

The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida's gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities. The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of more than 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. The Commission offers a supportive work environment that fosters growth and collaboration. Position Duties and Responsibilities:

The Tax Auditor IV, working under the direction of the Slots Operations Manager, provides support to the FGCC's Office of Slot Operations. The Tax Auditor IV's duties include the following:

  • Establishes and maintains audit programs, procedures, and checklists related to slot operations to conduct regular audits at all licensed facilities;
  • Maintains detailed files of all audits to verify the scope, findings/observations, and disposition of each item. Makes recommendations to the Chief of Slots to enhance the effectiveness and/or efficiency of the audit process;
  • Reviews and reconciles daily revenue reports upon submission ensuring compliance with the stated Rule;
  • Updates pertinent data in the Central Monitoring System (CMS). Updates form DBPR-PMW-3660 daily and form DBPR-PMW-3670 monthly;
  • Reconciles weekly tax remittance for each slot facility to ensure accuracy. Effectively communicates and supports financial inquiries with slot facilities. Provides revenue and financial support to the Office of Slot Operations, and creates and maintains system alerts to identify irregularities in revenue;
  • Offers practical financial procedures aligned with statutes and rules while timely completing additional assignments and special projects as required. Assists in prosecution of administrative cases involving slot facilities using thorough knowledge of gaming operations and gaming procedures;
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Commission and the Office of Slot Operations. Complies with all policies and procedures of the State of Florida; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Knowledge of generally accepted and governmental accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Knowledge of Chapter 75-14, Florida Administrative Code.
  • Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply law, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task as well as be detail oriented.
  • Ability to recognize and investigate financial irregularities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience in compliance or a regulatory field, or in data analysis.
    • An associate's degree in a business-related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of Gaming financial systems and audit experience.
