Welcome to Warner Bros. Discoveryโ€ฆ the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Areโ€ฆ

Behind WBDโ€™s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating whatโ€™s nextโ€ฆ

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Avalanche is a Warner Bros. Games studio located in downtown Salt Lake City nestled against the backdrop of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Weโ€™ve been in the video game business since 1995, creating interactive experiences for fans of the worldโ€™s largest franchises. The team behind the blockbuster open world, action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create whatโ€™s next!

Avalanche, a division of WB Games Inc., is seeking aMission Level Designerto join our team of talented industry veterans. In this role, you will guide the creative vision and execution of missions, owning the player experience from concept through final implementation. As both a mission implementer and player-focused storyteller, you will shape gameplay, pacing, and spatial design while collaborating across disciplines to deliver cohesive, immersive experiences. The ideal candidate brings a passion for game design and The Wizarding World.

What part will you play?
  • Mission Ownership, Structure & Player Experience:
Collaborate on the design and deliver compelling missions from concept through final implementation. Define mission structure, pacing, and gameplay flow across combat, exploration, and narrative beats, ensuring the player experience is intuitive, engaging, and aligned with the gameโ€™s creative vision. Communicate objectives and progression through level design, using spatial layout, encounter design, and environmental storytelling rather than relying on explicit instruction.
  • Implementation & Scripting:
Implement missions using visual scripting tools, establishing core logic, progression, triggers, and integration with game systems. Deliver functional, stable content that is consistently ready for QA, internal reviews, and playtests.
  • Iteration, Feedback & Quality Refinement:
Champion an iterative development process by proactively gathering feedback through reviews, cross-disciplinary input, and playtesting. Translate feedback and insights into actionable improvements, continuously refining mission flow, difficulty, readability, and emotional impact.
  • Creative Input:
Serve as a key creative contributor in defining each missionโ€™s purpose, tone, emotional arc, and learning opportunities. Ensure missions not only succeed on their own terms, but also support progression goals, reinforce the broader player journey, and contribute meaningfully to the overall game experience.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Leadership & Communication:
Act as the missionโ€™s point of ownership and alignment across disciplines, driving communication with design, art, audio, narrative, engineering, and other partners as needed. Anticipate dependencies, surface risks early, and maintain momentum by identifying opportunities, proposing solutions, and guiding the mission forward through initiative and ownership.
  • Mentorship & Design Stewardship:
Uphold design standards, share best practices and support the growth of other designers through feedback, collaboration and by example. Help elevate the craft of mission design across the project through thoughtful critique and a strong understanding of the player experience.
What do we need from you?
  • Industry experience as a Level Designer, with a track record of owning missions from concept to final implementation.
  • Solid experience in Unreal Engine 5, including level creation workflows, tools, and best practices in a production environment.
  • Proficient in Blueprints (UE5), including the ability to implement and troubleshoot gameplay logic, mission flow, and scripted events with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong understanding of mission flow, spatial composition, gameplay pacing, and player guidance across combat, exploration, and narrative-driven moments.
  • Proven cross-disciplinary leadership, with experience collaborating closely with art, narrative, engineering, and design to align contributors around a shared creative vision.
  • Excellent communication and feedback skills, with the ability to both receive direction thoughtfully and provide clear, constructive feedback to others.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to take ownership, anticipate development needs, and continuously drive work forward.
  • Solid creative judgment and design sensibility, with the ability to contribute original ideas while balancing player experience, production constraints, and overall game goals.
  • A passion for games, level design, and crafting exceptional player experiences.
