We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Senior Front-End Software Engineer – WordPress

Working within the Branding Department, you will partner closely with the Sr. Director of Web, designers, project managers, and developers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing digital experiences. You will provide technical leadership for front-end development, mentor other developers, and help establish maintainable engineering practices that support long-term success.

What You'll Do

  • Translate UX and UI designs into responsive, accessible, production-ready code.
  • Partner with designers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver web solutions that meet business and brand objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for front-end development, including estimating work, identifying risks, and contributing to architecture decisions.
  • Build reusable components and maintain design systems that improve consistency and scalability.
  • Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and third-party platforms.
  • Optimize application performance through code splitting, lazy loading, caching, bundle optimization, and Core Web Vitals best practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and implementation guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across browsers, devices, and environments.
  • Mentor developers by sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and promoting engineering best practices.
  • Provide project updates through Asana and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies with stakeholders.
  • Explore and adopt AI tools that improve development workflows, productivity, code quality, and collaboration.
What We're Looking For
  • Solves complex technical challenges with a thoughtful and practical approach.
  • Communicates technical concepts clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Builds strong partnerships across design, development, and business teams.
  • Takes ownership of technical decisions and follows projects through completion.
  • Mentors others and contributes to the growth of the engineering team.
  • Produces clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Continuously improves processes, tooling, and development practices.
  • Learns new technologies and applies them to improve business outcomes.
What You'll Bring

  • Typically 7–10 years of professional front-end software engineering experience.
  • Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, WordPress, and Divi.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar.
  • Experience translating UX and UI designs into production-ready applications.
  • Experience leading front-end technical decisions and contributing to application architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), semantic HTML, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience integrating applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and third-party services.
  • Experience optimizing web performance using modern front-end techniques.
  • Experience with build tools such as Vite, Webpack, Rollup, npm, Yarn, or pnpm.
  • Experience with automated testing using tools such as Jest, Vitest, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, project managers, developers, QA engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve productivity, communication, and software delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience building enterprise marketing websites and internal web platforms.
  • Experience developing reusable design systems and component libraries.
