Title: Insights Analyst III
Location: Los Angeles, CA (hybrid)

Job Summary:
As an Insights Analyst III (Contractor), you will use your expertise with data to support strategic and operational decision-making on behalf of the product. You will analyze small & large datasets to better understand player engagement and product performance to inform future gameplay design, publishing strategy, and product strategy. Types of analyses and projects you will dive into may include: engagement dashboard iteration and maintenance, audience segmentation, business performance evaluation of new content, regional launch evaluation, game meta/balance, organized play, demand planning, and other investigations as they arise.
This position is for a 12-month contract, during which time you''ll partner with game designers, producers, program managers, and publishers on tactical details, as well as the game’s Leadership on product strategy and product health assessment. Through your quantitative analyses, you''ll surface how players engage with the game to help the team make better decisions.
Responsibilities:

  • Partner with central data engineers to develop, structure, and optimize datasets involving the game’s events, player engagement, marketing performance, and SKU/product sales
  • Transform small & large datasets involving engagement and revenue into rigorous analyses of the needs, preferences, segments, & behavioral patterns of both players and local organizers (stores)
  • Develop KPIs and core reports/dashboards for core game health, business health, organized play, new product performance, meta/balance, regional launch performance, marketing performance, D2C sales channel performance, and more
  • Partner with designers, producers, and program managers to generate frameworks, test hypotheses, and deliver insights results that will inform the game''s strategy and operations
  • Support various other Insights priorities, such as audience understanding, R&D product development, and demand planning
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics, including 2+ years of analytics for either online games or physical TCGs, either directly on a game team or in a support role that interacts with player-level data
  • Professional experience working regularly with data engineering
  • Proficiency in building ETLs, DAGs or other data pipelines, transforming raw data into structured datasets
  • Proficiency in SQL, Databricks, and Tableau
  • Comfortable working in a scrappy, unpolished data environment
  • Experience analyzing game health, such as engagement, retention, revenue, new content performance evaluation, etc.
  • Experience analyzing player-level data, such as event data, lifecycle analysis, attach rates, funnel analysis, etc.
  • Experience analyzing game market and competitive data, such as meta/balance, pricing, social sentiment, etc.
  • Demonstrated applications of the scientific method - developing and testing hypotheses, and reporting on outcomes and implications
  • Professional experience breaking down complex problems and problem spaces using multiple business or product frameworks, while creating solutions for our players and the business
  • Excellent data presentation and storytelling skills, that includes senior leadership
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with physical TCGs, as a player or dev team member
  • Experience with game telemetry for large, live service games
  • Demand planning experience for physical game SKUs
  • Experience with Airflow or other DAG-based orchestration tools
  • Experience joining player engagement data with survey data
