Job description

Senior Level Artist

Join us on our journey and help us collaborate towards our newly announced game: Blood Message. It is set in historical China and features a realistic visual style and authentic traditional combat gameplay. The project is making use of Unreal Engine 5 and is co-developed in collaboration between Montreal and our main studio in China.

We are a co-development video game studio based in Montreal, Canada, committed to delivering exceptional gaming experiences. Our team collaborates closely with our headquarters in China. The position is currently open to candidates in Montreal or Toronto.

Join our co-development video game studio in Montreal, Canada, as we collaborate with our headquarters in China to create Blood Message, an ambitious title set in historical China, featuring a realistic visual style and authentic traditional combat gameplay. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, this project aims to deliver exceptional gaming experiences for players, particularly in China. As a Level Artist you will ensure the artistic vision aligns with cultural authenticity, technical efficiency, and gameplay excellence, crafting immersive environments that resonate with players worldwide. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Art Lead and Art Director to establish Environment Theming & Tone, References for sections of the world.
  • Work closely with Level Designers to iterate on and bring a level of believability and detail to the world while retaining the gameplay intentions.
  • Work with the Technical Art team to explore and test different methods for creating and laying out the world, including procedural layout tools and workflows.
  • Work with the tech art and engineering teams to help establish performance and memory budgets to set achievable targets for world density.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years Experience on Video Game Environment and Asset production
  • Experience shipping environment content in an intermediate to senior role on 2-3 shipped console/PC titles.
  • Strong knowledge of visual design.
  • Excellent sense of visual composition, form color in realistic style.
  • Experience with many different methods for creating a game world including modular systems and usage of procedural tools.
  • Excellent knowledge of how to manage content for games in an optimized and performant manner.
  • Good knowledge of Unreal Engine for LA role.
  • Excellent 3D modelling and texturing skills
  • Highly proficient with 3D Studio Max and / or Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop.
  • Experience on working with outsourcing team (assign task, review and give feedback) will be a good plus.
