The Opportunity:

As aMechanical EngineeringIntern,youwillbe responsible fordesigning,fabricatingand testingmechanical designs for precision GPS-based products, and simulators,while working under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.

Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT)solutions and custom engineering services to U.S. Government agencies, defenseorganizationsand their contractors. Safran Federal Systemsis authorized towork on the full spectrum of U.S. Government classified and unclassified projects, in addition to supporting strategic partnerships for key defense PNT technologies.

How I will Contribute:

  • Working closely withSenior and LeadEngineers in an officeand lab spaceenvironmentdesigning the latest GPS-based and alternative PNThardware.
  • Testing new prototypes and hardware revisions to new and legacy productsto ensure our products meet the highest standards and specifications.
  • Devising test procedures, experiments, test fixtures; performing those tests, analyzing theresultsand generating comprehensive test reports and recommendations.
  • Analyzing problem reports and designing fixesor revisions
  • Working with vendors, subcontractors, and customers to understand their needs and applications toward solving problems in deployments

What you bring to the role:

  • Current enrollment in college (MechanicalEngineering or Engineering Technology)
  • Conceptual understanding of mechanical design concepts and best practices encompassing structures,vibrationand heat transfer
  • Basic understanding of modern fabrication techniques both additive andsubtractivein nature
  • Experience with one or more3D modeling SW suites (Inventor preferred,Solidworks, Creo, etc.)
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • The ability toremainpoised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
  • Curiosity and passion formechanicalengineering and technology with the ability tolearn.
  • Experience with machine shop tools is a plus
