Your Opportunity:
The New York City, NY office is looking for an Aviation Project Manager to join our team and help manage and grow our NYC Aviation group! This position will be responsible for helping grow our team and our aviation business out of the NYC office. It will also include winning, managing and delivering projects for clients at major large hub commercial service airports and Department of Defense airport facilities within our Airport Infrastructure Sub-sector.
Projects will include aviation infrastructure conceptual and final designs, technical reports and presentations, airspace analyses, master plan updates and other planning studies, construction or rehabilitation of airfield pavements such as runways, taxiways and aprons, and other miscellaneous improvements. This individual will work closely with the New York City Aviation Team Leader and the Airport Infrastructure Sector Leader to manage and grow the New York City Aviation Team. This individual may direct several project team members and will lead most aspects of projects from initial scoping through construction and project close-out.
The Stantec Transportation group provides services to both private and public sector clients. While you will be focusing on work in Maine and the Northeast, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with our other teams across the United States and in Canada and support their project needs as opportunities arise.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Interfacing directly with clients that include various Airport Authorities, State Aviation Authorities, and Department of Defense representatives.

  • In-depth knowledge of clients' needs and standards and upcoming Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.

  • Leading design objectives and advancing airport projects through completion and final close-out

  • Prepares project Scope of Services and engineering fees, establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, coordinates project resources, and monitors project progress.

  • Work with the design team on deliverables, including preparation of drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, preparation of project specifications and construction cost estimates.

  • Preparing grant administration paperwork for the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), as well as State grant administration.

  • Provides guidance to Resident Engineers during construction with the ability and confidence to solve problems as needed.

  • Lead the preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications.

  • Actively participates in the marketing process by delivering quality work, providing excellent client service, and assisting with project pursuits.

  • Takes an active mentoring role; encourages, motivates, and develops others for high performance; ensures that mistakes become learning experiences.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
Experience with the FAA's Airport Improvement Program procedures and the FAA's Advisory Circulars is preferred.
  • Strong aviation infrastructure design experience

  • Ability to manage all aspects of airport infrastructure project development.

  • Experience in successful aviation project pursuits including identifying opportunities, client engagement, developing teaming strategies, and developing proposals.

  • Strong ability to review designs for quality and completeness

  • Strong client interaction and relationship skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking, strong attentiveness to detail.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and interface with multiple project managers with a focus on mentoring staff and nurturing organic growth within a dynamic team environment.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of design, project management, or construction administration experience relating to airport infrastructure

  • Must have an active U.S. Professional Engineer license. PE license in the State of New York or New Jersey is preferred.

Candidate will primarily work in an office setting in New York, NY. Occasional field work may be required. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days a week, depending on business needs.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
