Upper Level Engagement Team (Hype Squad)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Houston Rockets are looking for energetic, engaging, and outgoing individuals to join our new Upper Level Engagement Team, dedicated to enhancing the fan experience in the upper concourse during home games. This team will play a key role in boosting crowd energy, building home court advantage, and creating unforgettable moments for our guests.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrates our One Team philosophy of Passion, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
  • Create meaningful and positive interactions with upper level fans throughout the game
  • Lead cheers, chants and call-and-response prompts to energize fans and boost crowd engagement
  • Distribute promotional items and participate in activations like t-shirt tosses, prize giveaways, and in-stand contests
  • Assist with interactive fan elements in the upper bowl during timeouts and breaks
  • Collaborate with the Game Presentation staff to time activations with key in-game moments like big plays, runs, or momentum swings
  • Serve as a visible, approachable, and enthusiastic ambassador for the team, ensuring upper level fans feel included, heard, and hyped
  • Work with the Game Presentation Manager and other game presentation personnel with rehearsals for all upper bowl activations, sponsored timeouts, special ceremonies, and intros.
  • Assist with pre-game and post-game concourse activations as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Background in sports, live entertainment, production, staging, event planning and/or game presentation is preferred.
  • Experience in event coordination or crowd engagement is a plus.
  • Comfortable performing, leading chants, and interacting in front of large crowds
  • Strong improvisational skills and the ability to read the energy of the crowd and adjust accordingly
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to interact effectively and in a professional, diplomatic, and mature manner with internal and external clients at all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to take creative direction and be flexible in the face of change and last-minute initiatives.
  • Strong social skills including verbal and written communication.
  • Positive team player attitude and effective relationship-building talents.

PHYSICAL amp; MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays in alignment with the home game schedule
  • Mandatory to work all Rockets home games during the 2026-2027 season.
  • Comfortable being physically active (standing, walking stairs, tossing items, etc.) for extended periods
