Job description

Job Title: Sports Official (Referee)
Organization: Police Athletic League (PAL)
Location: All Five Boroughs of New York City
About the Role:
The Police Athletic League is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Sports Officials to join our team. Referees will be responsible for ensuring fair play, enforcing game rules, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for youth participants across multiple sports programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Officiate games and enforce rules in a fair, professional, and consistent manner
  • Maintain game control, ensure safety, and promote sportsmanship
  • Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled games at various PAL program locations
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and staff regarding rules and game flow
  • Submit any required game or incident reports in a timely manner

Requirements:
  • Previous officiating or coaching experience preferred (training opportunities may be available)
  • Strong knowledge of game rules for assigned sport(s)
  • Reliable transportation - officials are responsible for their own travel to each location
  • Professionalism, fairness, and ability to work with youth populations
  • Must complete all required onboarding steps, including signing a Contractor's Agreement

Compensation:
  • Base pay ranges from $40-$50 per game
  • Pay is issued bi-weekly, every two weeks, once you are fully onboarded into the Paycom payroll system.

Location:
  • Assignments are scheduled across all five boroughs of New York City.
  • Officials are responsible for their own travel to and from each game location.

Additional Details:
  • This is a contracted position, not full-time employment.
  • Officials should be reliable, flexible, and able to work evenings and weekends depending on league schedules.
