Job Description Summary
The Athletics Event and Media Support Staff position assists other EOU athletic staff to ensure successful home sporting events. This position has duties before, during and after home sporting events in the areas of media support and operations. Responsibilities may include any number of different assignments including operation of the game scoreboard, announcing, and bookkeeping for volleyball or basketball games.
THIS IS AN AS-NEEDED POSITION AND ATHLETICS IS CREATING A POOL OF QUALIFIED APPLICANTS.
Applicants hired are paid by the hour worked. There are no fringe employee benefits associated with this job.
Responsibilities
- Operate scoreboard or score clock for home sporting events, as assigned.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping for home stats of the events, as assigned.
- Operate the microphone and speak in a clear and articulate manner, following all guidelines set forth by EOU Athletics, the Cascade Collegiate Conference, Frontier Conference, and the NAIA, as assigned.
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times and practice the Department of Athletics mission, values, and goals.
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Uphold the standards of conduct and have the ability to meet all department rules for EOU athletics and the University.
- Other tasks to support game media and operations, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills when interacting with the public and University personnel.
- Availability to work nights and weekends on short notice.
- Professional work ethic and independent time management skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to respond quickly.
- Positive attitude about working in a fast paced environment.
- Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with or knowledge of high school and/or college athletics game operations preferred, but not required.
