The beautiful Shangri-La Resort, located at the tip of Monkey Island in the center of northeast Oklahoma's Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, is currently taking applications for seasonal workers. Game Room Attendant
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Recreation, The Whitewater Attendant will be responsible for the running all facets of the command & control center, assisting, demonstrating, and promoting to customers using various physical and electronic games and attractions, and regular sanitation of touch point surfaces, among other assigned tasks.
Our Whitewater Attendant position ensures guests' initial impressions with Shangri-La Resort are positive and welcoming. The Whitewater Attendant position requires a strong communicator who will guide our Guests through their experience, retail, game rental and food and beverage experiences.
The Whitewater Attendant will play a key role in the coordination, organization, and execution of numerous events, parties, clinics, and camps hosted at The Anchor or other venues throughout the Shangri-La Resort property. All functions of this position will contribute to a fun, exciting, energy-driven atmosphere designed to maximize enjoyment for all visitors and enhance value for Shangri-La members.
REPORTS TO Director of Recreation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process transactions from customers seeking to obtain or modify game cards, play arcade, simulator, or VR games, redeem gaming credits, rent equipment, purchase merchandise, or reserve court time.
  • Answer phone calls & greet incoming customers.
  • Demonstrate & upsell to customers using gaming machines.
  • Coordinate & execute regular training for incoming & continual part-time staff.
  • Supervise part-time staff performing A-Team non-management level duties.
  • Generate advertising & promotional content for various media platforms.
  • Perform preventative & corrective maintenance on various machines & equipment.
  • Perform regular sanitation of all touch-point surfaces & other areas requiring cleaning.
  • Execute daily facility opening or closing procedures.
  • Perform regular X-out & Z-out procedures of cash register.
  • Perform regular inventory counting & reporting.
  • Attend planning meetings for numerous Shangri-La parties, events, clinics, & camps.
  • Perform set up & tear down tasks related to parties, events, clinics, & camps.
  • Address & resolve customer complaints leading to a satisfactory solution.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Anchor Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional status through interface with customers.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional working relationship with management and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules.
  • Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Education and Experience:
  • 1 year of experience in hospitality, recreational, or service-related field.
  • Communication, organization, and management skills are critical.
  • Positive, outgoing, high-energy approach necessary for fun & fast-paced position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift more than 50lbs. Physical stamina and a proper mental attitude to work under pressure at a fast pace are essential. Must have the mental fortitude to handle the pressures of multiple tasks while providing excellent guest service.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed inside. Early mornings, holiday and/or weekend work are required. Extended hours and irregular shifts are required.
Must be able to pass a background check.
