Job description

The Game Producer is responsible for leading all aspects of live game broadcasts for the Buffalo Sabres. This role requires not only creative vision and technical expertise, but also exceptional people skills to effectively lead production teams, collaborate across departments, and foster strong working relationships. The ideal candidate brings a team-first mindset and a passion for delivering high-quality broadcasts that reflect the standards of the organization, the league, and its partners.

Core Responsiblities:
  • Develop and implement the creative vision and overall look and feel of Sabres broadcasts.
  • Drive storytelling and content strategies that engage fans and reflect the team's indentity.
  • Work closely with the Sabres Broadcast team to align technical execution with creative goals.
  • Together with the broader Content team, develop comprehensive storytelling.
  • Partner with the Creative team to ensure graphics and animations meet brand, broadcast, and sponsorship standards.
  • Champion innovation to ensure production values remain at the forefront of NHL broadcasting.
  • Maintain a visible presence within the organization and represent the broadcast team in cross-function settings.
  • Participate in daily content planning and editorial meetings.
  • Attend cross-departmental meetings with Broadcast, Corporate Parnterships, and other internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with NHL and FCC regulations for live game broadcasts.
Talent & Technical Team Management
  • Provide clear guidance and direction to on-air talent: set expectations, offer coaching and conduct performance reviews
  • Collaborate with the Director to manage all game-day technical personnel and ensure smooth production execution
Sponsorship Integration
  • Partner with Business Development team to integrate sponsor messaging into broadcast content from concept to delivery.
  • Work closely with the Creative team to ensure sponsor elements are accurate, visually aligned, and editorally appropriate.
  • Ensure timely and complete sponsor fulfillment within the broadcast environment.

Other duties as assigned by the VP of Broadcasting.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of broadcast production experience, at NHL level is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end video production: planning, scripting, editing, graphics, and distribution
  • Experience working in live production environments: mobile unit, studio, or on-location
  • Familiarity with current production technologies and broadcast equipment
  • Excellent writing and storytelling abilities
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Comfortable adapting in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Compensation:
  • This role will pay between $98,269.00 - $130,000.00 annually. This position will be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Note: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
