Description & Requirements
Bloomberg is looking for a data journalist to take on a project role that will help expand bloomberg.com's games portfolio.
The ideal candidate has a data background and experience working with newsrooms, and will be asked to help leverage Bloomberg's data expertise into a new game we're developing. The job emphasizes databases over visualizations - the most important skill we're looking for is an ability to ingest, clean and search databases with confidence.
We want this person to have the same devotion to rigor, accuracy and evidence as the rest of the newsroom. We also want them to embrace that they're working on a game and not be afraid to be playful and clever. Some familiarity with games - mobile games, news games, strategy games, board games, card games, video games, etc. - is a plus.
We'll Trust You To:
Collect and manage dozens of databases from inside and outside Bloomberg.
Vet data sets to understand their provenance, accuracy and utility.
Use those data sets to generate daily programming.
Consult on game design, UX and UI elements during game development.
You'll Need to Have:
At least three years working as a data journalist or relevant career experience.
A strong understanding about some core areas of Bloomberg coverage, such as economics, business, finance, technology and/or politics.
A curiosity and love of numbers, statistics and history.
Meticulous standards for accuracy, sourcing and verification, especially with numbers.
Salary Range = 45 - 50 USD Hourly
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
We offer one of the most comprehensive and generous benefits plans available and offer a range of total rewards that may include merit increases, incentive compensation (exempt roles only), paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k) +match, life insurance, and various wellness programs, among others. The Company does not provide benefits directly to contingent workers/contractors and interns.
