Position Overview
The Fan Experience & Engagement Intern plays a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for LOVB Nebraska fans both inside and outside the arena. Working alongside the Manager of Fan Experience & Engagement, this position helps bring match days to life through promotions, fan activations, entertainment, community events, and game presentation.
From leading our College Crew program to assisting with community appearances, in-arena entertainment, and match day operations, this intern will gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of professional sports while helping create an atmosphere that is energetic, connected, and memorable for every fan who walks through our doors.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to join LOVB Nebraska during an exciting period of growth and be part of a league that is redefining the future of women's professional sports. Rather than stepping into a long-established operation, interns will have the opportunity to help shape the fan experience and contribute to building something special from the ground up.
The Fan Experience & Engagement Intern exists to help establish the standard for fan experience and game presentation-not only in volleyball, but across the sports industry.
Key Responsibilities
Game Presentation & Fan Experience
• Assist the Manager of Fan Experience & Engagement in planning and executing the overall match day entertainment experience.
• Support the development of in-game promotions, fan activations, entertainment elements, scripts, music selection, and other game presentation initiatives.
• Assist in identifying and securing match day talent, including National Anthem performers, ceremonial first serve participants, special guests, and entertainment acts.
• Help coordinate on-court ceremonies and player appearances before, during, and after matches.
• Assist with match day setup and teardown to ensure all fan experience elements are executed efficiently.
• Work alongside the Game Presentation team to ensure promotions and fan activations are executed seamlessly throughout each match.
College Crew Leadership
• Recruit, schedule, and supervise the LOVB Nebraska College Crew throughout the season.
• Serve as the primary point of communication for College Crew members regarding scheduling, expectations, and match day responsibilities.
• Lead the College Crew on match days, ensuring all members are prepared, engaged, and providing an exceptional fan experience.
Fan Engagement
• Interact with fans throughout the arena to create an energetic, welcoming, and memorable atmosphere.
• Assist in identifying contestants and participants for in-game promotions and entertainment.
• Help ensure every fan interaction reflects the values and energy of the LOVB Nebraska brand.
Community Relations
• Assist with community outreach initiatives, including tabling events, festivals, and promotional appearances.
• Support the coordination and execution of player appearances and other community engagement opportunities.
Match Day Expectations
• Attend all assigned home matches during the internship.
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a team-first attitude in a fast-paced live event environment.
• Be willing to assist wherever needed to ensure a world-class fan experience.
Qualifications
Preferred Education
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Preferred areas of study include Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
• Junior or Senior standing is strongly preferred, but qualified underclassmen are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Experience
• Previous experience in sports, live events, fan engagement, or event management is preferred, but not required.
• Customer service experience is highly valued.
• Demonstrated leadership experience through work, student organizations, athletics, or campus involvement is strongly preferred.
• Experience leading or managing peers is a plus.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is required.
• Experience with PowerPoint is required.
• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other creative software is a plus.
• Experience with live event production or entertainment is a plus.
