The Process Engineer provides technical support to unit operations, contributing to efforts that enhance efficiency, improve safety, reduce costs, ensure operational stability, and support plant profitability
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors unit operations to identify deviations, supports troubleshooting efforts, and assists plant management in evaluating, investigating, and implementing technical solutions that improve safety, quality, capacity, reliability, and operability
  • Initiates, implements, and owns MOCs. Is responsible for timely, appropriate, and well-documented completion of owned MOCs. Provides technical and process safety input to MOC committee. Delivers operator training for process and PCT changes
  • Serves as a key member of the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) team. Completes PHA actions as assigned following Covestro Engineering Standards
  • Capital Projects: Assists the Venture Manager in capital portfolio planning by identifying investment needs and comparing merits of proposed projects. Serves as process expert and plant representative for design, construction, commissioning, and implementation of investment projects
  • Process Control Technology: Supports DCS project work and assists in coordinating with third-party integrators. Performs changes to DCS programming, logic, and graphics. Troubleshoots and maintains DCS and SIS hardware and software
  • Identifies and tracks opportunities for cost savings such as yield increases, waste reduction, energy savings, etc.
  • Updates and maintains various documentation including, but not limited to, the following:
    • P&IDs
    • DCS & SIS Documentation
    • Electrical Drawings
    • Equipment Drawings and Design Information
    • FLOC/AKZs

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with 3+ years of professional experience
  • Experience with DCS, SIS, or PLC
  • Experience with Process Data Historians

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in PSM manufacturing environment

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience training both salary and non-salary staff
