Job description

Software QA Engineer

Position Summary: The Test Engineer can work independently or as a team member in the full life cycle of a software development project. The Test Engineer is adept at controlling a test environment as well as providing an independent evaluation of software. The Test Engineer takes direction from the Software Development Manager and the Software Quality Control Engineering Project Lead.

Responsibilities
  • Continually develop professional expertise in all aspects of test engineering.
  • Follow the department test process.
  • Ensure test runs and results within the given time frame.
  • Provide test plans, test scripts and test summary reports.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate software functionality against requirements and specifications.
  • Identify, report and track software defects and issues.
  • Perform functional, performance, security and regression testing of software products.
  • Evaluate and provide input to requirement documents.
  • Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.
  • Reproduce issues, when necessary, to assist software development in resolving issues.
  • Submit clearly written bug reports and reporting results when necessary to the Senior Software Quality Control Engineering Project Lead or Software Development Manager.
  • Build productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
Position Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in software testing, setting up test environments, testing and logging results; or equivalent experience.
  • A 2- or 4-year college degree, preferably in a technical area, is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of the lottery gaming industry.
  • A working knowledge or experience with the JIRA Issue Management tool preferred.
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office desktop applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Travel 5% or less.
  • Possess valid papers allowing for travel on short notice, possibly to foreign destinations.
Additional Skills
  • General proficiency in a Linux / Unix environment.
  • Jira bug / issue tracking and project management tool.
  • qTest test case management tool.
  • Able to write basic queries in SQL Server and JIRA boards.
  • Testing web applications.
  • Exposure to automated testing tools.
Education

A 2- or 4-year college degree, preferably in a technical area, is a plus.

Years of Related Experience

3+ years of experience in software testing, setting up test environments, testing and logging results; or equivalent experience.
