Job description

The Cashier – Game Day Grill is responsible for accurately processing team member transactions in the Employee Dining Room (EDR), including complimentary and paid items. This role provides friendly and efficient service while maintaining cleanliness and organization of the counter and surrounding areas. The Cashier ensures accurate inventory handling and contributes to a positive dining experience for all team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes team member meal transactions, including complimentary and paid items, using the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintains accurate records of complimentary items as required by EDR policy.
  • Orders and restocks supplies for each shift; organizes and stores inventory as received.
  • Cleans all counter surfaces and areas behind the counter throughout and after each shift.
  • Assists with bussing and cleaning tables when needed to support overall cleanliness.
  • Lifts and organizes stock items, including crates of soda, water, and boxed supplies.
  • Delivers excellent guest service by addressing team member needs promptly and courteously.
  • Follows all safety, sanitation, and food handling protocols.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions and inventory.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • High regard for guest service and team collaboration.
  • Prior cashiering experience preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional coursework in customer service, hospitality, or accounting is a plus.
  • Food Handler Certification required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience handling cash and providing guest service in a food and beverage or retail environment.
  • Experience operating POS systems, processing payments, and balancing cash drawers.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with guests.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume setting while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prior experience in a casino, resort, or quick-service dining location is preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously with guests, coworkers, and supervisors; responsible for taking orders, answering questions, handling payments, and providing exceptional guest service.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and carries supplies, food items, or small equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; may assist with stocking the register area or condiment stations.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands and fingers to operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash and credit card transactions, prepare receipts, and assist in packaging food orders.
  • Mobility: Continuously moves within the cashier station and surrounding service areas; requires standing for extended periods and occasional walking, bending, and reaching during shift operations.
  • Stationary Work: Frequently remains standing at the register or service counter throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of POS systems, cash drawers, receipt printers, beverage dispensers, and standard cleaning tools for maintaining work area cleanliness.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision to read order tickets, process transactions accurately, verify cash and credit handling, and monitor food presentation standards at the counter.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in a fast-paced, high-traffic casual dining setting with exposure to food service equipment, cleaning products, and background noise. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through casino or public areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
