Job description

Schedule Information: Schedule varies depending on need. Position available through fall and spring semesters.

The Athletics and Fitness department provides support to 13 collegiate teams and student athletes. 

Education Requirements: 

Harper College Student registered for at least six credit hours in fall/spring or three credit hours in summer or enrolled for the following fall semester

Experience Requirements: 

High school varsity athletic team experience (as a student-athlete, manager or statistician)

Student journalism experience (school newspaper, yearbook, broadcast or similar)

Photography and/or videography experience

Familiarity with Graphic Design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar)

Experience managing or contributing to social media accounts

Comfort speaking or writing publicly (e.g. PA announcements, blogging, public speaking)

Customer service or event support experience.

Additional materials encouraged for the application process but are not required:

A portfolio or samples of prior photography, design or writing work are encouraged.

No prior professional experience is necessary - training will be provided by the Sports Information Coordinator.  Must be able to adapt to a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, to support home athletic events.

Special Notes:

A cover letter and resume may be directly attached to your application; however, this is not required.

Duties of Position:  (include but not limited to)

1.) Photograph home athletic events across all varsity and scrimmage teams

2.) Help with graphic design for schedules, rosters, and game-day promotional materials

3.) Manage weekly social media content for currently competing teams

4.) Write game recaps, previews and feature stores for department publications

5.) Support game-day operations: setup/teardown, scoreboard/clock operations, PA announcements, and credentialing

6.) Help with photo and video archiving and organization of department media library

7.) Complete administrative or operational tasks as needed to support the daily workflow of the department

Student workers are assigned to one or more specialty areas - Photography, Graphic Design, social media, journalism or Game Day operations - based on interest and experience.  Multiple positions are available; hours range from 5-10 per week depending on availability
