Job description

Job Title: Graduate Assistant

Department: Physical Therapy

Supervisor: Jeff Taylor

Starting Rate of Pay: $15.00

Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.

Department Description

The Department of Physical Therapy houses the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduate degree, the Human Biomechanics and Physiology Laboratory, the Virtual Reality & Clinical Gait Analysis Laboratory, the Pro Bono Physical Therapy Clinic, and Targeted Enhanced Athletic Movement (TEAM). The Department has unique needs to help further its educational, research, service and clinical strategic goals.

Job Description

Graduate assistants are responsible for assisting faculty and/or staff with responsibilities as directed. These responsibilities may include educational, research, service, or clinical needs.

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform job duties within the Department of Physical Therapy, either in Congdon Hall, the Pro Bono Physical Therapy Clinic, or an alternate location as discussed with the supervising faculty and/or staff. Hours will vary depending on the job requirements; however, the maximum number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours.

Responsibilities (may include some or all of the following):

  • Educational assistance (assisting in lab-based activities including set-up and clean-up, tutoring students in class, holding review sessions or office hours outside of class time)
  • Research assistance (assisting in data collection and analysis, subject scheduling and tracking, lab set-up and/or clean-up)
  • Service / administrative assistance (assisting at the front desk, filing, admissions, clean-up and organization of classrooms, closets)
  • Clinical (patient scheduling, documentation, non-PT care including physical activity or exercise interventions, set-up and clean-up of clinical spaces)

Required Qualifications:

  • DPT student in good standing (no probationary status)

Desired Skills:

  • Must have passed all DPT courses to date with 1 or less "low passes"
