Building Services Technician - HVAC/Mechanical Specialist - Metro Atlanta, GA/GPC Corporate HQ & Surrounding Atlanta Area Facilities
This is a Fantastic opportunity to join the GA Power team in a wonderful role!

This position will be based in GA Power Corporate HQ @ 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA & will be responsible for multiple facilities in/around the Metro Atlanta Area as well.
There is a Testing requirement you must pass to be considered for this position.

Position Overview
The Building Services Technician - HVAC/Mechanical Specialist provides maintenance and technical support across multiple GPC facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable operation of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
The technician will travel between sites to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a wide range of equipment, including automatic gates, ice machines, and building automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, and other mechanical equipment across multiple GPC locations.
Diagnose and resolve HVAC and mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain occupant comfort.
Maintain and repair automatic gates, door operators, and access systems for secure and safe facility operation.
Service and maintain ice machines, including cleaning, sanitizing, and troubleshooting refrigeration and mechanical problems.
Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems, including valves, fixtures, piping, and water heaters.
Perform minor electrical work, such as replacing ballasts, switches, motors, and troubleshooting circuits within scope of certification and safety guidelines.
Monitor, adjust, and optimize building automation systems (BAS/BMS) for performance and energy efficiency.
Support general building maintenance tasks, including lighting, pumps, motors, and control systems.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and service schedules for each facility.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and installations.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations at all locations.
Assist with facility improvement projects and equipment upgrades across the region.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in HVAC and mechanical maintenance, with working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
Experience supporting multiple facilities or regional operations preferred.
Technical diploma or certification in HVAC, mechanical systems, or building maintenance required.
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification and/or relevant trade licenses highly desirable.
Experience servicing automatic gates, refrigeration/ice machines, and general building equipment.
Strong understanding of building automation systems and mechanical controls.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required (travel between sites).
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other building environments.
Willingness to travel regularly between GPC facilities within assigned region.
This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license).
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
