Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our G.I. Hospitalist, you will join Saint Joseph Medical Group, part of CommonSpirit Health, as a member of our growing Gastroenterology team in Lexington, Kentucky. You will practice within a collaborative medical staff supported by a strong regional referral network while making a meaningful impact on patients throughout Lexington and the surrounding Central Kentucky region.

Every day you will provide inpatient Gastroenterology care, including new consultations, hospital rounding, and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will be a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterology physician committed to clinical excellence, compassionate care, teamwork, and service to the community. You will be comfortable managing an average of 5 to 10 new consultations and a daily census of approximately 15 to 25 patients in a fully inpatient, hospital-based setting.

  • 7 on 7 off schedule
  • Join an experienced G.I. Hospitalist
  • Collaborate with five outpatient gastroenterologists and four advanced practice providers who support the G.I. Hospitalist team with consultations, rounding, and scopes.
  • EUS and advanced procedural support
  • Epic electronic health record system.

You will also receive one week of CME with a $4,000 allowance, paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage, and potential eligibility for federal and state student loan forgiveness programs.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Active Medical License in the State of Kentucky, or ability to obtain prior to employment
  • DEA certificate
  • Completion of ACGME Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship
