Job description

Academic outpatient clinic in Brooklyn is seeking a faculty-appointed primary care physician to join its growing ambulatory practice. This position is open due to an anticipated retirement later this year, with the goal of onboarding a backfill over the coming months. The role is led by the Head of Ambulatory and offers a strong balance of teaching, clinical oversight, and administrative time.

  • Full-time ambulatory position, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Faculty appointment with 4 days per week of resident teaching/supervision
  • 1/2 day per week available for own patient panel (optional)
  • ½ day of protected administrative time
  • Oversees ~2 residents at a time (maximum of 4; uncommon)
  • Typically 7 patients per session per resident (~14 patients/day)
  • Attending responsibilities focused on:
    • Cursory patient exams and clinical discussions
    • Supervising and signing resident documentation
    • No direct responsibility for resident paperwork
  • Weekly schedule breakdown:
    • 8 sessions resident oversight
    • 1 session own patients
    • 1 session administrative time
  • On-call responsibility 3 times per year, one week at a time (Mon-Sun)
    • Pager call only for clinical questions
    • Residents are first call; attending is second-line support

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Eligible for New York medical licensure
